Reggie Bunner, a Manager in the Public Service Commission Transportation Enforcement Division, was recently honored by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration‚Äės National Training Center as the Hazardous Materials Training Programs Instructor of the Year. This is the first year the award was given.
The National Training Center (NTC) serves as the focal point for the development and delivery of motor carrier safety training to enhance the capabilities of participating Federal, State and Local government officials. Every year the NTC provides training to over 10,000 students nationwide. As this is the first year for this award, officials looked at the impact the instructors have had on the development and revision of the training materials, as well as the number of classes each instructor taught, and the number of times an instructor volunteered to teach. Over the last year, Bunner taught 14 Hazardous Materials classes for the NTC and volunteered almost twice as much as any other instructor.
‚ÄúThe goal of the Transportation Enforcement Division is to save lives on West Virginia highways and our programs, which centers on training, are in motion to address this goal. The Transportation Enforcement Division is fortunate to have Reggie Bunner, not only as an instructor, but as the Manager of our Training Section. This award reflects Reggie‚Äôs commitment to the goal of saving lives on our highways,‚ÄĚ said Gary Edgell, Director of the PSC Transportation Enforcement Division.
‚ÄúI am proud of the dedication of the Transportation Enforcement Division and for our small organization to continue to be recognized nationally,‚ÄĚ said Bunner.
Bunner has been a PSC Transportation Enforcement Officer since 1992. He also serves as a Regional Chairperson for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Cooperative Hazardous Materials Enforcement Development Conference.
