DMV Opening New Office for Truckers
Thursday, 03/04/2010

The state Division of Motor Vehicles is preparing a new office designed to provide more convenient services to truckers.

Two sections administered by the DMV - The International Registration Plan and the International Fuel Tax Association - are scheduled to move this month from 1606 Washington St. E. to The Shops at Kanawha, formerly the Kanawha Mall.

The sections will take the 3,200-square-foot space previously occupied by the Cato Department Store. The space is across from the DMV's new headquarters and its regional office.

The new office will have 12 customer service modules. Truckers who visit will take a number and be seated until called.

There will be additional seating provided in the hallway just outside the office during especially busy days.

In addition to the expanded space, ample parking and waiting areas, the DMV has invited the state Public Service Commission and the Internal Revenue Service to work out of the service center.
