Vote In U.S. House Pending – Cap-and-Trade Proposal Word from the nation’s capital is that there could be a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives tomorrow (Friday) on the Waxman-Markey climate change/cap-and-trade proposal (HR 2454 – American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009). As you may recall, HR 2454 would impose new regulations and lead to costly hikes in energy prices, particularly on electricity generated from coal-fired power plants. Some have estimated that electricity rates could go up 50 percent…and maybe even 300 percent! West Virginia’s three representatives have expressed an interest in hearing from West Virginians about this important issue. So, please take a moment to speak out and express your opposition to this costly proposal. Stop this hidden tax increase. |

56 Drivers to compete in Truck Driving Championship on Saturday
Professional West Virginia tractor-trailer operators will test their driving skills and knowledge of the trucking industry during the West Virginia Motor Truck Association’s annual Truck Driving Championship, to be held from 7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at the Charleston Civic Center.
The Truck Driving Championships (TDC) is designed to promote safety in the trucking industry. Drivers will compete for a chance to go to the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championship – also known as the Super Bowl of Safety – later this summer.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the organization will host a banquet at the Civic Center to present the driving competition and annual safety awards, which include the "Driver of the Year" and the "State Police Safety Award" tributes.
Media are encouraged to attend. The best time to photograph the tractor-trailer driving competition will be between 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
