The TSA is requiring all personnel that access a water supplied facility have TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) credential by April 15, 2009 or earlier as the port designates. The only site closer than Richmond VA is Huntington WV and their hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Additionally the site requires an appointment for enrollment. At issue is the distance to Huntington and its conflict with those of us that operate 24/7 on 12-hour shifts. To be available during those hours most drivers would have to stop work and travel out there for the appointment. In this time of shortages in product, drivers and HOS regulations, it is virtually impossible to get this done.
Walt Hanson with Petroleum Transport spoke with Steve Sadler who manages the credentialing program for TSA and he agreed to help. Lockheed Martin is the credentialing contractor may work with us to have a mobile registration unit in Charleston in the coming weeks. We need to know the number of personnel that require registration.
If you would be interested in getting register in Charleston. Please advise the Association office or the number of drivers that you need to have registered. We need you numbers by Tuesday, October 14th.

A couple of weeks ago you received a memorandum from the Association, along with a WVMTA Committee Sign-Up Sheet.
It is very important for members to take ownership in the Association. One way to do that is to sign up to serve on a committee or two. This is a great way to be part of the decision making process. Anyone in a member company can sign up to serve on one of the committees.
We have attached the Committee Sign-Up sheet to this email. If you haven't signed up, please do so today! |
