Last year, 6,174 law enforcement officers at 1,868 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada made more than 74,000 traffic stops during Operation Safe Driver. Slightly more than 29,000 of the stops were made for commercial motor vehicles. The three most common stops were for speeding, failure to wear seat belts and failure to obey traffic control devices.
Enforcement agencies across North America will conduct heightened traffic safety enforcement including boosted truck roadside inspections, safety belt enforcement, and other activities aimed at improving driver regulatory compliance can be expected.
