In preparation for the aboveground storage tank registration process, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is asking tank owners to take steps to help streamline the process – for both the agency and the registrants. Namely, the agency is asking that tank owners who aren’t already signed up for online registration do so starting immediately.

While the statement, “Congestion and crumbling roads are killing our economy,” sounds strong, it’s the truth.
A report from the American Transportation Research Institute found that congestion cost the trucking industry $9.2 billion -- that’s with a B – just last year.
Our roads and bridges, built and designed in the 20th century, can no longer keeps pace with the economy of the 21st.

Currently, the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration displays a poster depicting victims of truck-involved crashes in its main lobby as you enter their Headquarters office space in Washington DC. This poster was presented to FMCSA by a number of anti-truck groups. Not only does this poster attempt to shed a negative light on the trucking industry, it does nothing to accurately portray the safety-first mentality of the overwhelming majority of fleets and drivers in the industry. Many ATA and industry representatives who have seen the poster are offended by it. To address this concern, ATA is requesting your help!

It is against West Virginia law to talk on a cell phone while driving, unless you are using a hands-free device. As part of National Distracted Driving Month, the West Virginia Trucking Association is urging motorists to put down their cell phones and focus on safe driving while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.
Jan Vineyard, president of the WV Trucking Association, said, “Motorists need to take responsibility for safety as they navigate our roadways and keep their eyes on the road. Putting cell phones away, planning your trip and keeping your eyes on the road will save lives.”
