On Thursday, November 21, the House Small Business Committee, Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce, will hold a hearing titled "Wrong Way: The Impact of FMCSA's Hours of Service Regulation on Small Businesses."  The purpose of the hearing, which will be chaired by Congressman Richard Hanna who recently introduced H.R.3413, will be to examine the direct and indirect economic and operational impact of the new HOS regulation on small businesses.

The hearing will provide a great opportunity to highlight the negative impact of the new HOS regulation and gain strong bipartisan support for H.R.3413, the TRUE Safety Act.

The West Virginia Trucking Association has signed onto a letter to members of Congress supporting the “TRUE Safety Act” H.R. 3413, sponsored by Representatives Hanna (R-NY), Rep. Michaud (D-ME) and Rep. Rice (R-SC). The bill defers implementation of the new 34-hour restart provisions in the just implemented hours-of-service regulations that became effective July I, 2013, pending completion of a Government Accounting Office (GAO) review of (1) the analysis used by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to justify the new rules and, (2) the MAP-21 required restart provision.
